Monarch claims Manchester crown

20 Aug 2009
Monarch has announced it is the number one scheduled carrier to Spain from Manchester Airport.

This summer, the airline will operate 190 flights a week from Manchester to 11 destinations throughout mainland Spain, the Balearics and the Canary Islands, equating to over 867,000 seats.

And from October it will further strengthen its Spanish network with the launch of new year-round scheduled services to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.

Managing director of Monarch flights and holidays, Liz Savage, commented: ‘We operate almost double the amount of flights per week from Manchester than our nearest competitor, giving customers the best choice of flight times and destinations to Spain.

‘Whilst competitors withdraw their services we are demonstrating our commitment to Manchester with the launch of new routes to the Canaries.

‘It is clear to us that when customers have a choice they prefer to fly with Monarch and enjoy our low fares and high quality service.’

In addition to Spain, Monarch operates scheduled services to Gibraltar, Portugal and Cyprus from Manchester, together with more than 30 charter routes.
